As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with 7 years of mental health experience, my passion is in helping individuals navigate life’s challenges by fostering psychological flexibility and promoting values-driven living. My ultimate goal is to provide you with a safe space to explore and process the more difficult experiences of being a human. To support this, I utilize a holistic approach that recognizes each individual's unique journey, challenges, and values. The foundation of my practice is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to empower my clients in reducing internal struggles through embracing thoughts and feelings, utilizing mindfulness strategies, while taking meaningful action aligned with core values. I also draw from a range of other modalities (Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems) to support top down cognitive processing as well as bottom up mind-body interventions to help my clients meet their individual mental health needs. I have experience working with individuals and families and would like to expand to also support couples work through their relational challenges. My experience includes treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD/Complex/Developmental Trauma, grief, family/relational issues, and stress-related disorders. I work with clients from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities, as well as neurodivergence. This approach facilitates profound personal growth and resilience, allowing clients to overcome obstacles, enhance their overall well-being, and strengthen relationships.

I believe people who seek therapy are not necessarily "sick" but stuck in patterns of relating to others that are no longer working. How we treat each other and how we are being treated matters a great deal. Like ropes, relationships get tangled and knotted and we sometimes need help to get untangled. As a solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life.
I work from a systems point of view to evaluate relationship patterns and help individuals, couples and families create new, healthy ways of relating to one another. I respect each person's spiritual journey and seek ways in which that journey can help in the therapeutic process.

I am passionate about helping people overcome mental health problems that keep them from becoming their best selves. Many problems stem from childhood trauma. It can be very helpful for a person to understand the roots of their anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, or relationship issues. But I also believe that helping people understand the connection between their thoughts, moods, and behaviors can empower them to change negative thinking patterns that keep them stuck in self-defeating behaviors. I use Cognitive Behavioral interventions to help change these negative thinking patterns. I also use Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), art therapy, Solution-Focused, and mindfulness-based approaches. These strategies can help clients explore trauma and underlying issues, create practical solutions to their problems, and learn to live in the Here-and-Now.
I became a Counselor later in life, so I strongly believe in the adage “It’s never too late to become the person you were meant to be.”

Hello there! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am also a mother, daughter and sister. Throughout this journey called life, I have been fortunate to cross paths with all persons from all walks of life. I like to believe there is something to learn from every experience and interaction we have with all people. I have come to learn, even the not so pleasant of experiences are opportunities to grow and in the future be a source of support and comfort for someone else.
I believe we can allow life to happen to us, or we can grab life by the horns and take charge. Our work together would be collaborative and include assistance in empowering you to have the final say about your life and creating a new narrative. I like to believe in the power of choices. I believe we have the choice of what our mood is going to be in that very moment. And when we finally realize the power we possess, our days become easier and less bothered. We are able to meet the world with more compassion, because we can better regulate and chose our mood allowing us to have a different perspective than before. My approach includes use of Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focus Therapy.
When I'm not deep into my thoughts, I enjoy spending time with family, exercising, reading a good book, and traveling but nothing compares to the joy I have for helping others. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey! I am truly honored.

We start therapy by building that trusting safe therapeutic environment. Depending on your current symptoms and your goals for therapy, treatment could include CBT skills, Psycho-dynamic methods, EMDR/reprocessing, Somatic therapies, Narrative, Psycho-educational and others.....but will always attempt to be Person-Centered and Strength Based.

Hi I’m Penny,
Thanks for taking the time to consider letting me work with you. I know it is hard to open up and allow someone into your life and thoughts. Let me tell you a little about myself and my reason for being a therapist before you make a decision. Growing up I was always the friend who everyone turned to for advice, help to make a big decision, or the rational mind, but also for the tough response. So, I guess this is something I’ve always enjoyed; helping others. I have modeled my current therapy after the kind eared, confidant, problem solving friend I was years ago. I tend to be a soft spot to land, but also am that direct uncomfortable statement that needs to be heard. I like to say I have a selfless, yet selfish profession in doing therapy because I get to help you along your journey and it brings me joy to watch you learn and grow into the healthier version of yourselves. When I am not here with you, I’m with my family and fur-babies, usually somewhere in the water or in the woods. I could be watching a good movie or cruising around on an electric scooter too. Therapeutic Paradigms
Okay, now for the technical information. You want to know if I know what I am doing and have some backing, right?. I graduated from University of Phoenix, Sacramento Campus with my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015, however, I started gaining experience doing therapy in 2014. I have since worked in a non profit private practice model individual therapy center, a dual diagnosis inpatient drug rehab, and a non profit community based therapy center working with children and families. I also have experience working in a psychiatric hospital outpatient
setting. I have training in DBT, TF-CBT, Behavioral therapy. Some of my favorites are CBT, DBT, mindfulness models,
solution focused, and person centered theories. I build rapport and learn my audience, so to speak, so I can provide the best care possible. I believe affirmations, thought stopping, and
challenging distortions are an important part of healing. I also believe that acceptance and meeting yourself where you are is just as important. You are the expert in your own life, I am just here to help you regain your strength, relearn your tools, and remember you are in charge.
