About Debby Califia, LPCC
Debby Califia is passionate about helping individuals break free from the emotional and behavioral patterns that prevent them from becoming their fullest, most authentic selves. She understands that many struggles—whether anxiety, depression, addictive behaviors, or relationship challenges—are rooted in earlier experiences and unprocessed trauma. Her work focuses on helping clients gently uncover these roots while learning practical, empowering tools for lasting change.
Debby believes that insight and action must work hand in hand. While understanding the origin of emotional pain is important, she also teaches clients how to reshape negative thinking patterns that fuel self-doubt, overwhelm, or self-defeating behaviors. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Debby guides clients in noticing the connection between thoughts, moods, and behaviors, allowing them to create new patterns that support emotional balance and healthier choices.
Her approach is integrative and deeply supportive. She incorporates EMDR for trauma healing, art therapy for creative expression, Solution-Focused strategies to identify strengths and possibilities, and mindfulness practices that help clients stay grounded in the present moment. Each modality is selected thoughtfully to match the client’s unique needs, comfort level, and goals.
Debby’s own journey into becoming a counselor later in life strengthens her belief that transformation is always possible. She embodies the philosophy that it is never too late to grow, heal, and become the person you were meant to be. Her warm, non-judgmental presence helps clients feel safe exploring difficult emotions while building skills that foster resilience, clarity, and self-compassion.
