About Susan Johnson, LMFT
Susan Johnson, LMFT, believes that people who seek therapy are not “sick”—they are often simply stuck in patterns of relating that no longer serve them. The ways we treat others, and the ways we are treated in return, shape our emotional lives in profound and lasting ways. Like ropes that slowly knot over time, relationships can become tangled, strained, or confusing. Susan’s work focuses on helping clients gently untangle those knots so they can engage in relationships with more clarity, understanding, and emotional safety.
As a solution-focused therapist, Susan guides individuals, couples, and families toward discovering their strengths, resilience, and potential. Rather than dwelling on what cannot be changed, she helps clients understand how past experiences influence present patterns—and how those patterns can shift in healthier, more empowering directions. Her approach is collaborative, grounded, and deeply respectful of each person’s journey.
Working from a systems perspective, Susan looks at the broader relational dynamics that shape her clients’ lives. She explores how communication styles, emotional patterns, and family histories influence connection, conflict, and intimacy. Through this lens, she supports clients in developing new, healthier ways of interacting—whether with a partner, a family member, or within themselves.
Susan also honors each client’s spiritual path and incorporates it into the therapeutic process when helpful. She recognizes that spiritual beliefs can provide comfort, perspective, and strength during times of growth or uncertainty.
With warmth, insight, and a steady, grounding presence, Susan helps clients move from feeling stuck to feeling empowered—creating space for relationships that feel more open, compassionate, and deeply connected.
